Most drivers think wheel alignment means adjusting the front wheels to point straight ahead. That is only half the story. Four wheel alignment considers every wheel on the car, including the rear, and how their angles interact through the vehicle's thrust line. Get this wrong and even a perfectly straight steering wheel will not save your tyres or your handling.
The key angles are camber, toe, caster, and thrust angle. Camber is the vertical tilt of the wheel. Negative camber, where the top of the wheel leans inward, increases cornering grip by keeping the tyre contact patch flat when the car rolls in a bend. Toe is the direction the wheels point relative to each other. Even tiny toe misadjustments cause rapid, uneven scrubbing wear. Caster affects steering feel and self-centering. Thrust angle ensures the rear axle is properly square to the front, which is critical for stability and straight-line tracking.
At Wallace Performance, we do not guess. Our four-wheel alignment rig uses precision measuring heads on each wheel to capture all angles simultaneously. We then adjust based on the manufacturer's specifications, or, for performance customers, to a custom geometry sheet tailored to the car's setup and intended use.
The results are immediate and measurable. Tyres that were scrubbing on the inner or outer edge suddenly wear evenly across the full tread. The car tracks straight on the motorway without constant steering correction. Cornering feels more planted and predictable because all four tyres are working together rather than fighting each other.
We see this most dramatically on cars that have been lowered, fitted with wider wheels, or had suspension components replaced. Any time ride height or geometry changes, alignment must be rechecked. Even a small drop on coilovers can shift camber far enough to destroy a set of tyres in five thousand miles.
Alignment is one of the cheapest maintenance items with the biggest return. A session takes under an hour, costs a fraction of a replacement tyre set, and transforms how the car feels every single time you drive it. Book yours today and stop wasting rubber.
